2025-2026 Undergraduate Bulletin

Welcome from the President

I am pleased to welcome you to SUNY Geneseo, New York’s Public Honors College, and want to share some information about the college, this Undergraduate Bulletin, and what lies in store for you as you begin your journey at Geneseo.

We are proud of the fact that SUNY Geneseo is consistently ranked as a Best Value College (Princeton Review, Fiske) and among the best colleges for Undergraduate Teaching by US News and World Report. We are also recognized for voter friendliness and contributions to the public good. We are guided by our Mission, Vision, and Values and have strong commitments to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and Sustainability. Geneseo resides on the historic homeland of the Seneca Nation of Indians and the Tonawanda Seneca Nation, and we honor that legacy. I encourage you to learn more about the college’s history, from our inception as a normal school to our embracing of the equity-centered honors mission.

As a student, you will enjoy our beautiful campus, especially the newly renovated Milne Library’s comfortable and well-equipped spaces for group and individual study, as well as recently redesigned buildings, like Bailey Hall which houses social sciences. Our active and exciting MacVittie Student Union is a popular spot to meet classmates and friends, pick up Geneseo Knights gear in the Bookstore, and visit Starbucks. For a meal on campus, try the cuisine in the Halal Shack, recently opened in Brodie Fine Arts, or visit one of our three dining halls: Letchworth, Mary Jemison, and Red Jacket.

Geneseo offers over fifty baccalaureate majors to choose from, in an academic discipline that will set you up for a successful career. Our liberal arts curriculum, A Geneseo Education for a Connected World, will help you better understand the world around you and gain the skills to participate as an active global citizen. Through that curriculum, you will complete an Integrative and Applied Learning activity, which will allow you to practice what you have learned in the classroom and prepare you for advanced study, a career, and/or whatever your future may bring.

In addition to classroom experiences, Geneseo offers you a great many experiential learning opportunities including participating in undergraduate research, studying abroad, engaging in service learning and volunteering, and undertaking an internship. Our residential campus hosts nearly 100 student clubs and organizations, ranging from athletics to the arts to student leadership. You may enjoy playing or cheering on the Geneseo Knights’ 22 NCAA Division III teams or joining one of the many club and intramural athletic teams.

This Undergraduate Bulletin is designed to provide what you will need to know as you begin your academic path toward a bachelor’s degree. Use it to enquire into courses that interest you and explore majors, minors, and microcredentials. Learn about our student support services and follow the links to opportunities in student life at Geneseo.

Welcome to our vibrant community. Geneseo is a special place, and we are glad you are joining our family.

Best wishes,

Dr. Battles
