CURR 610 - Foundations of Early Literacy Instruction

The purpose of this course is to acquaint teachers with current theory and research in reading and writing instruction. Teacher candidates will investigate the range of theories, past and present, that have shaped early literacy instruction and consider instructional practices, approaches, methods, and curricular materials well-suited to early literacy instruction.  Early literacy assessment techniques prevalent in early literacy classrooms are presented and data analyzed.   Offered fall and summer.

Prerequisite(s): A minimum of 6 credits of undergraduate coursework in reading/literacy education or its equivalent.
