The capstone experience is an individualized project for each student that integrates the technical data analytic skills and critical analysis with a project focused on an area of particular interest to the student. Projects can focus on a particular disciplinary area (within or outside the School of Business) or on an external organization. Each student will work with the Capstone course instructor to create an approved proposal. Project proposals must be approved by the capstone instructor, in the proposal, students should demonstrate the ability to carry out data analytics from beginning to end, demonstrate the ability to translate the project objects into realistic analysis plan, and demonstrate the ability to implement analysis software using tools such as R, Python, Tableau, etc. The capstone course instructor will oversee the data analytics aspects of the projects, while a faculty member or organization contact will oversee the specific subject domain work. A written report detailing the project as well as an oral presentation are required. Students will meet regularly with the capstone instructor individually and six times a semester with all the students enrolled in the capstone course. The final grade will be determined by the capstone instructor, with input from the other supervisors.
