CURR 620 - Teaching of Reading for Secondary, College, and Adult Students

This course is for secondary school teachers, librarians, and reading specialists who are concerned with the reading problems of students in junior and senior high school. The course considers a variety of models of providing literacy instruction to adolescent learners. Attention is given to the techniques and materials for reluctant and disabled readers, motivation to read, young adult literature, and multimodal literacies. Coverage of learning from text and content area reading is limited in the course, as both topics are covered in-depth in the Content Area Reading Course. Fall, Summer
