HIST 693 - Thesis Credit(s): 4 Lecture: 1 Non-Lecture: 8
A master’s thesis is a substantial research project that is based on primary and secondary sources. The thesis should demonstrate a capacity for independent research, facility in organization and expression, and originality in thought. The thesis should be an original contribution to the scholarly field of a minimum of 50 pages. The topic of the Master’s thesis must substantially differ from that of the Bachelor’s thesis (which may have been completed in another program). A student considering completion of a thesis should complete a thesis application and meet with the graduate coordinator before registering for this course. A student considering a thesis must be an admitted degree student and have completed all major area course requirements and foreign language expectations by the end of the semester in which the thesis is written. Students will complete a one-semester four-credit directed study.
