Credit(s): 3
Lecture: 3
Non-Lecture: 0

Course Description: This course explores AI-powered Business Intelligence (BI) through data visualization, data transformation, machine learning (ML) analysis, and automated data collection. Students will learn how to design and deploy interactive dashboards that showcase key performance indicators (KPIs) and advanced analytics for business applications. Emphasis is placed on integrating (1) visual analytics, (2) ML applications-including predictive, inferential, and diagnostic analytics-and (3) AI applications such as anomaly detection, chatbots, and automated data collection into dashboards built with open source tools (e.g., R, Python and Shiny). Students will also learn best practices for integrating KPI cards, applying conditional formatting, and enabling cross-filtering to enhance dashboard interactivity. Projects will include a midterm evaluation (comprising both a project report and a dashboard update), and final projects will be published online via GitHub using Quarto or Jupyter Notebook, with automated data updates and dash-board refreshes.
