HIST 453 - The Holocaust in Historical Perspective 2018-2019 Catalog Year
Credit(s): 3 Lecture: 3 Non-Lecture: 0 This course considers the Holocaust as the culmination of many story: political, socioeconomic, cultural, theological, and ethical. Consequently, the readings extend back through Shakespeare to the Bible, and they include contemporaries’ accounts from the Nazi, the victims’, and the rescuers’ perspectives. The course will also assess the legacies of the Holocaust to the postwar world, including the founding of Israel. The approach is multicultural with emphasis on both Western and Eastern European experiences.
Prerequisite(s): HIST 302 (HIST 301 also recommended). Offered: Not on a regular basis
