This program provides a theoretical and practical overview of violin pedagogy as promulgated by the noted Japanese violin pedagogue, Shinichi Suzuki (1898-1998), whose teaching method has become widely practiced around the world since World War II. This program is intended for the experienced violin student who has an interest in studio teaching.

Program Learning Outcomes:
Students completing this microcredential will:
- Articulate the central pedagogical principles as presented in Dr. Shinichi Suzuki’s “Nurtured by Love,” the premier internationally recognized text describing the Suzuki Method.
- Develop techniques for successfully demonstrating the repertoire and for communicating the associated teaching points in the Suzuki Violin Method, Books 1 - 8.
- Develop and demonstrate strategies for working with students and families at all ages and skill levels in home practice, weekly private lessons, and group classes.
