A review of the origins of modern empirical psychology. Emphasis is placed on the influence of historical, philosophical, social and cultural factors on psychology’s emergence as an empirical discipline, its choice of particular research questions and methodologies, and the development of the major contemporary approaches to psychology. Not offered on a regular basis.

Prerequisite(s): Proficiency in Basic Requirements.
