MUSC 189 - Elements of Music Theory Credit(s): 3 Lecture: 3 Non-Lecture: 0
An introduction to musical rudiments and practical musicianship. Rudiments including scales, keys, chord construction, meter and rhythm, and cadential patterns are addressed from a theoretical perspective as well as through practical exercises in solfège, aural skills, and basic music writing. Prospective music majors should take MUSC 139 in the same semester as this course.
Prerequisite(s): An ability to read music fluently Offered: Fall Semester
