NEUR 420 - Science of Cannabis Credit(s): 3 Lecture: 3 Non-Lecture: 0
This course explores the broad subject of cannabis science with an emphasis on the phytochemistry of cannabis, biosynthetic pathways involved in the production of cannabinoids, neurological mode of action via the endocannabinoid system, and the therapeutic potential of cannabinoids. Additional concepts from history, biology, sociology, medicine, and politics will be used to explore the complex story of cannabis in the United States. Students should leave the course with a greater appreciation of cannabis chemistry and neuroscience, including the extent of scientific work still to be done.
