Emphasis is placed not only upon the evolutional development of music as an art but also upon its relationship to the political, economic, and cultural conditions of the various historical periods. (Attendance at musical performances may be required.)

Prerequisite(s): MUSC 110 or MUSC 189 or an equivalent background in music theory.
