HIST 415 - Environmental History of Modern America 2020-2021 Catalog Year
Credit(s): 4 Lecture: 4 Non-Lecture: 0 This course traces the environmental history of the U.S. from the late 19th century to the present, focusing on the history of environmental degradation and injustice, environmental reform efforts, the political culture of the environmental movement, and the ideas and assumptions that underlie environmental thought in modern America. Of particular interest will be the impact of industrial capitalism on the environment, and the ways in which race, class, and gender have intersected with environmental issues
