Program Learning Outcomes
Students who successfully complete the Integrative Microcredential in Applied Computing will be able to:
- Create at least one kind of computing artifact for personal use, and
- Discuss how they might contribute to developing computing artifacts addressed to larger audiences or problems.
Requirements:
A. One course from DANL 101 , ENGL 340 , FNCE 414 , GEOG 125 , HIST 303 , INTD 121 , MATH 230 , MUSC 102 , PHYS 261 , or an alternative introduction to computing approved by the microcredential coordinator.
B. Two additional courses, which may be from the list in (A); chosen from ASTR 472 , BIOL 350 , DANL 201 , DANL 202 , DANL 210 , DANL 300 , DANL 310 , DANL 320 , DANL 330 , DANL 340 , FNCE 450 , FNCE 451 , GEOG 286 , MATH 240 , MATH 303 , MATH 304 , MATH 342 , MATH 382 , MATH 384 , MATH 385 , MGMT 268 , MGMT 350 , MGMT 357 , MGMT 364 , PHIL 203 , PHYS 230 , PHYS 463 , PHYS 484 ; or other courses with significant computing content approved by the microcredential coordinator.
C. A project in which the student creates a computing artifact under the supervision of a faculty member. This project may be part of a course, directed study, internship, etc., but must be approved by the microcredential coordinator.
D. A “reflective journal” of the student’s progress through the microcredential, i.e., a document in which the student reflects on their relationship to computing (for example, how it advances academic, professional, or personal goals and interests, how it integrates with other studies or interests, etc.) and how that relationship changes while pursuing the microcredential. This might be a true journal of short entries written over a period of time, an essay written at a single point in time but looking back at evolving ideas, or a combination of both styles.
